Happy Birthday Megan!

It's hard to believe that this amazing journey we are on started a year ago. Last night and when we woke up this morning I gave Megan the play by play on what was happening a year ago.

10:00pm last night (as I was checking on her) - night night baby, this time last year mommy was headed to the hospital (while eating arby's).
Midnight (she cried out for some reason) - it's ok baby, this time last year mommy was walking the halls of the hospital.
7:30am -Morning baby, this time last year mommy was getting her epidural (and excited about that).
8am - sweet pea, this time last year mommy was feeling much much better.
10am - this time last year mommy was on the phone to grandma saying - ya'll better hurry up and get here
11:07am - this time last year, mommy and daddy were getting to see you for the very first time...

And today - we celebrated the special birthday - the big numero uno!
Originally we had planned on having an outdoor cookout (because the weather was soooo nice) then suddenly the weather changed and we got ready for our indoor party while it snowed outside. So Megan's 1st birthday was a white birthday! Flurries were flying!!!
Megan knew just what to do with her cake and immediately ate some icing.

Then she decided she'd had enough --- of the cake and her birthday crown --- and whipped the hat off, scooped it through the cake and threw it on the floor. Then she began to try to sling the icing off her hands... onto the floor. Fun was had by all!

Thanks to our friends John, Patrece, and Olivia, our garage was turned into it's own little carnival area. We had a bouncy house and the bigger kids loved it. Megan got her turn in the house (with me trailing behind her to make sure she didn't get stuck)... and then loved standing on the outside while the big kids bounced on the inside.
The whole experience was like being at the world's largest playgroup (OK, maybe a little bit of an exageration... but not a huge amount).

(note the slick spot on Megan's head.. that would be the "icing mousse" from the previous icing on hand, head swipe - the new baby hair gel!)

It was a wonderful day!

Thanks to all our family and friends who helped make the day so special. Megan had a great Birthday party, and we had a great "we survived the first year" party. Come on, we all know it was really all about us!
