You know all those child-proof things out there. Door latches, little thingys so that fingers don't get pinched in accordian doors, stove knob covers, latches for the frig and dishwasher, electrical outlet covers, cord covers, rails, plastic for over the rails, corner guards, etc... there are soooo many - how does a parent know what does and does not need to be baby-proofed?
My suggestion -HIRE SOMEONE
Someone who will do it for free!
Someone like this...
Because just when you think you have it under control...
Just when you think the outlet covers and a few cabinet locks have done the trick...
Just when you think the stairs are safe and so is the rest of the house...
Then you walk into a room and see this...
Oh yeah - toilet water -- uuummmm, uuumm good.
So the quandry begins... do I go buy one of those toilet locks that I previously thought "who on earth would ever buy that?" (oh pride comes before a fall)OR - do we wait and see if the new "always, ALWAYS, put the toilet lid down" rule works to keep little hands out of the oh so delightful toilet water.
I'm hoping the "new rule" will keep little hands out of the toilet or else, it's off to the store to invest in a couple of these...
Isn't it exciting to watch your child explore the world.... learn new things.... oh yeah - a whole new adventure, that's what parenting is!

Hysterical! There is never a dull...or apparently dry...moment at the Blaisdell house!
oh no! we have babyproofed everything but the toilet. we actually hired a guy (that we paid) to do most of it for us.
jakey just picked up the toilet lid the other day for the first time (ours is ALWAYS down) and we told him 'No touch' which he is pretty good about obeying.
Samuel has played in the toilet a few times. Thankfully, it's not a habit because I was never keen on the idea of a toilet lock. Oh, and I decided to blog again even if it's only every once in a while. Thought I would let you know. I just posted some recent photos.
Oh my Heavens!!! That was HILLARIOUS!!! It'll be interesting to see if just keeping the lid down is enough to deter little Miss Einstein! My guess is no. She's discovered her very own little water table, and it's unlikely she's going to forget it's there (or how fun it was!). Wait until she figures out the magic of the silver handle...
Love you all!
Auntie Dawn
It appears as though she is ready for a boat and sailers hat. Way to keep 'em on their toes Megan!!!
Our bathroom doors must always remain closed. Macie also likes the toilet paper after all. Plus, if you have a 2nd, Megan will likely be potty trained so the lock would be a big pain.
