Scarecrow Harvest

What a beautiful day it was today - so we headed to the Scarecrow Harvest in a nearby town. It's a cute little festival/farmer's market. It was a spur of the moment trip, and so worth it!

We were greeted by scarecrows...

They even had tractor hay rides...

Horse drawn hayrides...
Of course when you go to a festival, you always take a friend. Our day wouldn't have been complete without Natalie!
The local schools and businesses (and I think pretty much anyone who wants to) decorate scarecrows. The Scarecrows line Main street. It was neat to walk up the street and see some of the creative scarecrows that schools and classes created.

Scarecrows like... Ben Franklin...
The Statue of Liberty...

Tiger Woods....
And no trip to a fall festival is complete without getting to pick out a pumpkin!!!!
For a 10 minute trip down the road, we really enjoyed the day! The band, the food, the farmer's market, the hay rides and the scarecrows were all worth it. Maybe when Megan is a little bigger we'll also get to enjoy the face painting, the craft stations, and bouncy houses. The best thing - everything is free (except for food of course).
This will definitely be one of our new family traditions!

And for a nap update.... We made it a full week with 1 nap a day. It's not getting easier yet. :^( And she's still not really sleeping much later. She's usually awake by 7am (which is better than 5:30 - but not the 8-9am that I was hoping for). But, we made it. There were a few rough days and by 9am she's usually trying to climb into her crib to put herself to bed. By 11 she's usually laying on the floor making sure I know she wants to be in bed.... so - we've spent a LOT of time outside the house to keep her occupied. The parks are my friend! Now that we can get gas without waiting in line for an hour, I see trips to the zoo, nature centers, and more parks, in our future. So many of our little friends are on 1 nap schedules so it actually makes scheduling playdates much easier! So bring on the fun!!!!
