Ponder no more...

Life around here is never dull....

So a week ago this past Sunday I woke up and my foot was a bit tender. Didn't think anything of it. I finished up a meeting at church and my foot really hurt and was swollen. Still didn't think a lot about it - figured I had sprained something. I've had a lot of foot issues that I tend to ignore (not the best idea - I'm now a firm believer that everyone should have a podiatrist!).

Over the last week it just didn't get better and I've iced it and elevated it - and continued to work out and go walking and swimming - even walked several miles at the zoo this past Saturday..... Yes - by this time my foot was really hurting and I'd already called the Podiatrist to make an appointment. I knew something was wrong - I have a pretty high tolerance for pain and it was getting really hard (aka - excrutiating) to walk.

Today.... got some x-rays and found out - yep, my 3rd metatarsal is fractured. It's more than a stress fracture but thankfully it's not a complete break of the entire bone (if it was I'd be in a real cast). I'm now in a walking boot. But the Doc. put the fear of the Lord in me about walking without the boot due to the type of fracture it is. Oh yeah, and that would also mean that driving and swimming are highly advised against.... great!

Megan is very intrigued.
She thinks I brought home a new play toy for her. She's already tried to sit on it, poke her fingers through it, put some toys down it, she thinks it's a car for her stuff animals to ride on... lets just say that I'm already tired of it.

Have I mentioned that we are heading to the beach in 2 1/2 weeks..... big sigh!

I go back in 2 weeks to see how it's healing - More than likely I'll be in this for 4-6 weeks. Ugh. On the bright side.... at least I don't have blisters on my feet anymore (from HFM). :^) And with the boot, my foot doesn't hurt (praise the Lord!).

And to answer your questions as to HOW.... no idea! It might have started as a stress fracture and just worsened as I continued to use my foot, OR I had some trama that I don't remember (like stepping on a random toy and rolling my foot), OR ?????? your guess is as good as mine.

Oh, my gosh!!! You are having quite the summer! Miss Megan is doing her part by making the whole experience fun, I guess... I hope you heal well and are good as new sooner than later! We love and miss you all!!!

Sorry about your foot. It will certainly complicate trying to keep up with Megan!

Oh my goodness girl!!! Do you need anything? I have a lot of foot problems too and I used to ignore things, but it seems as we get older (bad word) little things tend to become bigger things. Stinks, doesn't it!!! Not that you are older..... I meant me :)

I think it is a good reason for you to sit on the beach and do NOTHING. You get down there and spend the rest of the time sitting in a chair reading a book.
