April

This year we took our spring break and took the girls for their first trip to the Atlantic coast (normally we are on the Gulf coast).

We enjoyed hanging out with some special friends!

After leaving the beach - we headed down the coast to Charleston....

And then to Savannah!  When in Savannah.. you have to get some Taffy!

The old cobblestone streets are fun - and exhausting to walk on!

After our visit to The Pirate's House, we all came home ready to read Treasure Island!  The novel is supposedly born after a trip to the Pirate's house and hearing the tales of buried treasure.

After vacation we picked back up with homeschool field trips (or hands-on learning).
This month, our city's homeschool day was on habitats.  Our teacher led us on a walk on a local trail to look for animal habitats.

Then we used natural materials to make a "fairy" home.
While that may sound a little strange - it was so interesting because the teacher also wove some local history into the trip.  The Native Americans that used to live in this area had many legends of the fairies that guarded the woodlands.

Back at home, we dove into an art project.  Did you know that roller coaster designers begin creating those mind boggling rides on paper?????  Well, we learned all about it - then the girls worked on creating their own roller coaster model.

Megan has joined a soccer team!  She's learning and working hard - I have to say, she's not afraid to try any position.  She's already looking forward to the next season!

And then.... it was Easter!

We  girls also had the opportunity to meet up with a local homeschool group to go see Disney on Ice.

This month, Nicole's American Heritage Girls troop held a derby car race.  Megan was excited to get to join in on this one.  We both made cars for the "outlaw" race.  Let's just say that both girls beat the socks off of me!
And Nicole's Smurf car brought home a trophy for it's design!

Finally, the zoo.... you know how we love the zoo!

And believe it or not.... even with all that going on - Tom and I got a weekend away!!!!!!
