The chairs

I think in a previous post I mentioned how much Megan loves getting in and out of chairs by herself. I found this cute little toddler canvas chair that was being clearanced and couldn't pass it up. Megan crawls in and out of it probably 100 times a day (no exageration there). It's so cute because she gets herself turned around and is sooooo proud of herself. It's so sweet to watch her grow in her independence.
This week she also figured out how to get into Daddy's recliner. She can't always get up there, but when she does she is in hog heaven. And she immediately grabs a book to read - she knows it's a reading chair! How sweet is that!
I've been worried that she'll fall right out but yesterday she showed me that she knew how to turn around and scoot to the edge to get out. It was so cute. She realized that she could use a makeshift step stool to get up and get down all by herself. I got it on camera to amuse you...

post 4th of July

We had a fun time with some friends from church this past weekend at a post-4th of July party. It was fun to catch up with folks, but a little crazy with all the kids running around. A lot of the folks there we've known pre-kids and from our single days - so when you look at the pictures you realize how life changes.

Belated Mothers Day

Happy Belated Mother's Day Mom!!!!!
What do you get your mother when they don't "need" anything - how about a date with their daughter!?!? This year my sister-in-law, Kelly, and I gave our moms/mother-in-law a gift of time with us. We fulfilled our "IOU date" this weekend by going to a cool beading shop in town and making necklaces together.
Here's Kelly stringing up a bracelet. My niece and nephews gave each grandma some beads for Mother's Day so they could make something on our date. Gram-Anne sporting her new necklace - this is Kelly's mom.
Here's mom and I with our finished projects. We all had so much fun that we plan on going back to make some coordinating pieces.

Yummy Yogurt!

Megan got some of Daddy's yogurt at breakfast yesterday - and loved it.... (note the out of control morning hair)

Happy Fourth of July! This year on the 4th of July we got to not only celebrate with some fireworks (the picture above is Megan trying to figure out what those loud noises were.), but also a special birthday!
Happy Birthday Sarah Michelle.
We had tons of fun at S.M.'s birthday party - they had a jumpy house. You know you've entered a new stage when your child can go into a jumpy house alone and actually figure out a way to bounce. Megan loved it! And we hit a milestone... maybe not a milestone for anyone but us - but still it was great. Megan figured out how to master a little "play ground/play house" all by herself. She climbed up and sat down and turned around and slid down. It was her first "solitary slide".
We even got her doing it on camera... She never looks at us, because as you'll see there is a dog on the other side that she really really really wants to get to. (Auntie Dawn - lets just say that Megan has a long way to go before she learns the "gentle touch").

Ponder no more...

Life around here is never dull....

So a week ago this past Sunday I woke up and my foot was a bit tender. Didn't think anything of it. I finished up a meeting at church and my foot really hurt and was swollen. Still didn't think a lot about it - figured I had sprained something. I've had a lot of foot issues that I tend to ignore (not the best idea - I'm now a firm believer that everyone should have a podiatrist!).

Over the last week it just didn't get better and I've iced it and elevated it - and continued to work out and go walking and swimming - even walked several miles at the zoo this past Saturday..... Yes - by this time my foot was really hurting and I'd already called the Podiatrist to make an appointment. I knew something was wrong - I have a pretty high tolerance for pain and it was getting really hard (aka - excrutiating) to walk.

Today.... got some x-rays and found out - yep, my 3rd metatarsal is fractured. It's more than a stress fracture but thankfully it's not a complete break of the entire bone (if it was I'd be in a real cast). I'm now in a walking boot. But the Doc. put the fear of the Lord in me about walking without the boot due to the type of fracture it is. Oh yeah, and that would also mean that driving and swimming are highly advised against.... great!

Megan is very intrigued.
She thinks I brought home a new play toy for her. She's already tried to sit on it, poke her fingers through it, put some toys down it, she thinks it's a car for her stuff animals to ride on... lets just say that I'm already tired of it.

Have I mentioned that we are heading to the beach in 2 1/2 weeks..... big sigh!

I go back in 2 weeks to see how it's healing - More than likely I'll be in this for 4-6 weeks. Ugh. On the bright side.... at least I don't have blisters on my feet anymore (from HFM). :^) And with the boot, my foot doesn't hurt (praise the Lord!).

And to answer your questions as to HOW.... no idea! It might have started as a stress fracture and just worsened as I continued to use my foot, OR I had some trama that I don't remember (like stepping on a random toy and rolling my foot), OR ?????? your guess is as good as mine.

Note to self....

(and anyone else out there this might pertain to...)

Just because you can walk on your foot doesn't mean it's not broken!

I'll leave you to ponder that one.
