Winter Footprints

I took a little time out today to do a little mommy project. I just started it back in December and finally, the final day of Feb. I've finished it.

I want to do somthing each year to have a little reminder of the girls as they grow (at least while they still let me). At Christmas, I got the canvas painted and the girls footprints on there. Today I set Nicole up with a little painting of her own and we just spent some time being artists.

I showed Nicole when I was finished and she was so cute about loving it and said, "ouh mommy, it is so pretty." I'll take my praise whenever I can get it.

About a year (or two) ago, I had a goal of really purging.... I mean getting rid of half the toys we had, etc... Well, that sounds so great - but the reality is - that's a huge undertaking - especially with 2 kids playing with what we wanted to purge ourselves of. Over the past few months I've taken stock of what we don't play with anymore. In addition to that - the past couple of weeks we've been finishing out a room in our basement - to do that, we had to clean out that room. It's sad when you realize you have an entire room full of unused baby stuff.

So we took advantge of the last days of the Babies R Us trade in program and we loaded up the van. I mean we stuffed that thing full of broken strollers (that we still have because we didn't know what to do with them), a highchair that doesn't have working straps anymore that is as old as my oldest nephew (who is now a teenager), several carseats (that can no longer be resold), etc...

It was full top to bottom - 8 pieces of baby gear. All that traded in and out of our house! YIPEE.

Then this week I loaded the car up again with 190 items for a local consignment sale. Priced to sell!!!! It wasn't about making money, it was about purging toys that were in great condition but that we needed out of our house - passing on the blessing. Most of our baby clothes we've given away as they've been outgrown - but toys are a different monster.

So at the end of the sale today I sold 167 of 190 items. WOW! And those final items are being donated to a local shelter.

All the things I couldn't sell or take to Babies-R-Us - well those 10 boxes were picked up this week by 2 local charities.

AAAAAHHHHHHHH.... the feeling of FINALLY getting rid of so much worldly weight. Now, we aren't done - but it's an awesome start. If you walk into our playroom you'll probably go - really, you got rid of stuff????? We have a long way to go - but it's a good start!

To say that my girls love to dance is an understatement. At least once a day, they hold a little dance party. Sometimes it even involves costumes....

What's super cute is when Megan tries to choreograph a dance for the two of them.

Oh my little twinkletoes!

Valentine's Day Party

A few of the moms from my MOPS group got together for a fun Valentine's party. It's always fun to get the kids together for crafts and food - and we moms like the social time!!!!!

My girls loved being little artists...

And what's a party without some sweets?

Nicole loved reading to little Collette

So no matter the age - there was something for everyone!

Megan has been soooo excited this week!
We finally set up our extra computer and made a little computer learning area for her. She loves it!
Of course now we have to put some limits on "plugged-in" time.

Date Night

Last night, Megan had a special man come and pick her up.

Tom and Megan went on a special Daddy/Daughter date night at Chick-fil-a. It's sweet that CFA has fun days like this - since we all love to go there.

They had a great time being "pampered" with a waiter, special photo backdrops, special balloons, and a rose for the young ladies.

They ended their evening at Menchies - were the littest princess was waiting for some ice cream with Daddy too. Megan was so sweet, she loves her one on one time with Tom and their monthly dates - this time Tom picked her up with a little bouquet of flowers which she promptly wanted put in her room so that she could wake up to them this morning. Let's just say, Daddy's heart was melting!

I know that sometimes Daddy wonders if he has a "Daddy's girl" in the house...

Then there are moments like this and I say - oh yeah, my girls LOVE their Daddy!

This weekend, we started our newest adventure..... soccer!
Megan has actually asked to play soccer for over a year. This year, we are going to give it a try. Our new church has a great Upwards sports program. Since upwards is a non-competitive league, and it's a ministry of our church - we thought this would be a great way to give Megan a taste of what it's like to play an organized sport - without the stress of some leagues. We want Megan to learn about good sportsmanship without the crazed parent screaming from the sideline. And she's a cutie when it comes to wanting to play. I'll be honest, I wasn't sure how our "skills evaluation" would go. But she was excited...

And super cute...

I have a feeling this will be a fun soccer season. Practice doesn't start until March so I'm sure we'll be out in the yard kicking a lot on pretty days!
